There is no length or height politicians, Nigerian politicians especially won’t go to, just to see their political ambitions come to fruition. They employ all manners of deceit, lies, propaganda, false promises, eye service, doing the unthinkable, the unimaginable, just to ensure they don’t miss out on getting a political appointment or winning an election. The sad part is that once their ambition has been achieved, every campaign promises ever made is thrown to the gutters leaving the electorates to look out for themselves on their own.

The latest politician to display the gimmick of eye service is none other than the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru who represents Izzi West constituency. The Speaker who is working overtime to become the governor after the incumbent, Dave Umahi’s second term ends, was pictured recently, holding on to the white agbada worn by the governor, in the same manner chief bridesmaids would usually do their duty of helping a bride carry her overly long bridal dress or veil.

The Speaker felt that doing what the governor’s orderly should ordinarily do if there was the need for it, was to show the governor how humble he is and how that he has his best interest at heart. This act didn’t go unnoticed as a member of the state House of Assembly queried the speaker for displaying such conduct unbecoming of a ‘Honourable’ Speaker, among other issues. For this, the member, Onu Nwonye who represents Ohaozara west constituency got an indefinite suspension.
