A three-year jail sentence has been handed down to Donald Trump‘s former lawyer, Michael Cohen for his role in a scandal involving the US President. Cohen was found guilty of breaking campaign finance rules, tax evasion and lying to Congress. He was also found guilty of masterminding the bribery of two women – a porn star and a former Playboy housemate – to keep their lips sealed on their sexual relationship with Trump.

Reports say Cohen’s implication of Trump in the scandal could pose a threat to his reign as President. A judge at a federal court in Manhattan said during the sentencing Wednesday afternoon that Cohen had committed a veritable smorgasbord of crimes involving deception and motivated by personal greed and ambition.
A remorseful Cohen told the court: “I blame myself for the conduct which has brought me here today.”

He went on to say it was his weakness and a blind loyalty to this man (Trump) that led me to choose a path of darkness over light
