The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi has said he had undergone the coronavirus test having been exposed to two persons who had tested positive for COVID-19.
“I just took the COVID-19 test having gone into self-isolation since yesterday evening. I’m asymptomatic and feel well but I was in meetings with two people who had since tested positive. I look forward to an all clear and I have encouraged all my colleagues to take the test.”

Recall that the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed and the President’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday and have been quarantined. Bala and Kyari had contact with governors and ministers recently at the National Executive Council and Federal Executive Council meetings.

The Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, has also gone into self- isolation, following reports that the Chief of Staff to the President tested positive for COVID-19. Bello shook hands with Kyari last week when the latter attended the burial of his mother precisely on March 17, 2020.

A close aide to Bello said the governor would be tested for the virus. He said, “I can confirm to you that his Excellency has gone into self-isolation and is being tested for COVID-19. The result will be announced on Wednesday.”

Others who attended the burial alongside Kyari include the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu; and Minister of Special Duties, Senator George Akume.

Even the Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki following his close contact with the Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, and the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, who have both tested positive for coronavirus, has gone into self-isolation.

A Special Adviser to the governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie said the governor has sent his samples for testing and awaits the result. He said the governor showed no symptoms of the virus but has taken the necessary precaution to self-isolate to protect people that may otherwise come in contact with him.
