Responding to criticisms about how he let daughter, Ivanka Trump sit on his chair during the G-20 summit last week, after he left for bilateral meetings, President Donald Trump had taken to his usual medium, Twitter by alleging that the media was being biased in their criticism because it had to do with him and wondered aloud if it would have been different with both Hilary and Chelsea Clinton.

He had tweeted that had Chelsea Clinton been asked to hold on behalf of her mother, Hilary, as she gave our country away, CNN (Fake News) would have said ‘Chelsea for president’.
“If Chelsea Clinton had been to hold the seat for her mother, as her mother gave our country away, the Fake News would say CHELSEA FOR PRES!”

The former first daughter, quickly replied with a tweet
“Goodmorning Mr President. It would never have occurred to my mother or my father to ask me,” (that is to sit on the chair or hold fort for them in their absence) adding, “Were you giving our country away? Hoping not.”

At the summit, Ivanka was seated between the British Prime Minister, Theresa May and the Chinese president, Xi JinPing. It is not uncommon to find members of a nation’s leader being called upon, occasionally to sit in while such summit is ongoing and the leader isn’t present. However, the criticism over Ivanka Trump’s presence at the summit may not be unrelated to how Americans feel with the way President Trump has converted his administration to a family affair.

Both Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner work with the president but without the benefit of a salary. While Ivanka is an adviser, Jared who was hired first is a senior adviser. It is also worthy of note that Chelsea Clinton was actively present all through her mother’s presidential campaign trails in 2008 and 2016.

Ironically, both Chelsea Clinton and Ivanka Trump happen to be close acquaintances
