Afro-fusion star, Damini Ogulu aka Burna Boy, clinched the most wins at the 2019 Soundcity MVP Awards, taking home four plaques including ‘African Artiste of the Year’. But the real winner of the night was his mother, Bose Ogulu, who came on stage to collect his third award on his behalf. In her acceptance speech on behalf of her son, the low cut wearing woman told the audience to expect more madness from Burnaboy.

The statement may not be unconnected to his recent rant about his name being written in small fonts in the advertisement for the upcoming biggest music festival, Coachella where he is billed to perform alongside Mr Eazi and a host of others. Burnaboy not only chided the organizers of the music festival to correct the ‘error’, he went on to call Nigerians who felt he was over reaching, a bunch of  backward unprogressive fools.

The ceremony which first held in 2016 with winners being chosen by the viewers, fans and a select committee of the industry stakeholders, also featured performances from Teni, Victo AD and Niniola.
